Wow! We read the passage in 2 Thess. where Paul exhorts the believers to be diligent and earn their "bread." The activity is to have your child earn their "lunch" by working on household tasks diligently. Oh, boy, is he ever earning his lunch today! He has unloaded, scrubbed, and reloaded both lazy susans in my kitchen and has scrubbed one tub with another to go! Let's see....what else could I have that little guy do? Hmmm....oh, maybe dust the house with the swiffer! I think that earns him a good lunch of Beefaroni, which he selected out as he was "reloading" one of the lazy susans. Maybe I'll throw in a couple cookies today for all his hard work. Hey, Carrie, make sure you throw in a few more days like this in the future guides!

Yay - something to look forward to. We got to scrub the floor the other day as the Dutch were scrubbing their houses in Stories of the Pilgrims. I'm glad to have some warning that earning lunch is coming up later .... I'll have to plan a little more exciting lunch that day or I won't have anyone understanding why they have to earn it, LOL!

Bummer. I won't hit that lesson for like 2 more years!! :?

Laura - It sounds like you were having a lot of fun though! Work is a great thing to learn. I'm always glad to have kids growing up on the dairy because working together is something we do. When there's work to do, everyone pitches in, because when it needs done, it needs done. (If only it waited until it was "convenient" .)

Laura,

Your post brought back memories for me about Beyond, as I also had my son scrub the lazy susans for that lesson 2 years ago! I can still remember how hard he worked at it, and I was thrilled to have my turnstyles clean.

Blessings,
Carrie
