Looking down the road - matching program with grade

Post by my2guys » Mon Feb 04, 2008 6:32 pm

I know this is really early for me to be thinking about this, but it popped in my head today, so thought I'd post the question. I'm just wondering how the different programs usually line up with grades. Like if we do "Little Hands" for K - that would mean "Beyond" for 1st, "Bigger" for 2nd and "Preparing" for 3rd. Yet I know that Carrie was talking about her son finishing up "Bigger" for 3rd so he would be ready for "Preparing" for 4th. So I'm just wondering how most people are doing it. Also I know Carrie has plans to have programs up through 8th, but does that mean four more programs, or five?

I am using Little Hearts for K and plan on using Beyond for 1st. That would put me using Bigger for 2nd and Preparing for 3rd. If I need to take longer that a year w/ each program I will. I am just going to wait and see hoe my dd does w/ each program. HTH!

Sharon,

So sorry to confuse you! The reason my son is doing "Bigger..." in third is that I took a year off between writing books, because we were just going book-to-book (praying for guidance on whether to keep writing in a series or to pursue other writing projects instead).

So, my second son had a year off of doing other curriculum (mainly CM-style with Ambleside 1) and then came back to do our newest guide at that time which was "Bigger..".

There will be 4 guides to follow "Preparing Hearts..." to do the 4 year history cycle. This will also allow moms to have a little extra breathing room with our guides to help with the pressure of completing a guide a year syndrome!

Hope this helps!

Blessings,
Carrie

That does help - thanks! Part of my thought too (which I didn't think to post) was wondering if maybe the programs weren't meant to follow a year exactly. So basically, there's a year of wiggle room built in there from K to 8. Excellent. Thank you. :)
