New to HOD

Hello all! I have been reading with great interest a lot of the previous posts. I am new to HOD. I have been homeschooling my 3 daughters (ages 9, 7 and 5) since the beginning, using various curriculum and approaches. We discovered Classical Conversations this year and have really been enjoying it. That said, I wanted something more, yet not too much, yet biblically centered to add to CC. I am excited about the 4 day schedule (something I have always followed anyways). I love that we will be able to do CC and yet still get in a wonderful, full curriculum the other 4 days. I have chosen Preparing for my upcoming 5th and 3rd graders and LHFHG for my K'er. I wanted to do Bigger with my oldest 2, but we just finished American History in CC and will move on to Ancient history. I wish I had found HOD sooner, as Bigger would have been a wonderful fit for us this past school year! I am excited to begin my new curriculum and have been pre-reading some of the books. I have especially enjoyed Little Miriam of Galilee. I love that Carrie replies to many of the posts personally. Again, looking forward to a wonderful school year with PHFHG and LHFHG!

Welcome, Brenda!
I'm going to be doing Preparing and LHFHG with Grant and Allison next year. So, we'll be on a similar path.

I'm sure you'll love HOD! We have been thoroughly enjoying all the rich learning...and the fun memories!!

It fits our family perfectly!

Welcome,
Your excitement is well-founded. This has been my first year with HOD. We are in the midst of Bigger right now and having such a great time. I will be using Preparing in the fall with a 3rd and 5th grader as well so we will be doing this together. What fun. I'll be looking forward to sharing our journey.

Hello Brenda! Welcome to HOD. You are going to love it. I have heard nothing but awesome things about Preparing and I am using LHFHG with my own daughter. She loves it and I enjoy teaching it to her.

Welcome, Brenda! We're glad to have you here.

We are currently using LHFHG and Preparing Hearts with our boys this year and are really enjoying ourselves. We pray you'll enjoy them as much as we have.
We look forward to getting to know you even better.

Welcome to the HOD Board, Brenda! We're in Week 28 of PHFHG and still loving it! We also finished out LHFHG with our middle ds several months ago and are now doing Beyond Little Hearts with him. I think you and your dc are going to enjoy doing PHFHG and LHFHG so much! We've found it to be a great fit for our family.

Thanks for introducing yourself!
In Christ,
Julie

Brenda,
Hi! Just wanted to say welcome from a fellow CC-er. We just recently found HOD and started Beyond about 6 weeks ago with my middle 2. My oldest will start PHFHG next week most likely. Like you I wish I had made the decision to use Bigger at the beginning of the year, but that's okay... my middle two will get it sometime next year! I think you will love how balanced HOD is without requiring planning from you when you're already on the run one day each week. The memory work in CC is so much head work (we are not memory masters here, LOL) that I began searching for more heart and soul appeal and more balance and feel like I've finally found it in HOD. You will love it!
Welcome!
Lynn

Lynn,
You hit the nail on the head with what you said about CC and wanting more heart and soul material, I think I was searching for the same thing. I really have a peace and contentment in my heart about choosing HOD, and am not researching any other curriculum choices at this point. Will look forward to hearing more from you.
