Question about Unit 27 of LHFHG... George Washington Hat

Does anyone have a picture or can help me figure out how to make the George Washington Hat from Unit 27 of LHFHG? I keep rereading the directions, but am having trouble figuring out how to make it look like it's supposed to.

Thanks for the pic. We just finished Unit 27 last week and I skipped the hat because I couldn't quite wrap my brain around how to make it. We'll have to do it this week. The kids are already excited!
