Hello! Questions about placement for 10yr old

Hello! I have been lurking for a couple of weeks. I have two daughters. One is going to be in 1st grade and the other will be in 4th. The oldest has been the experiment (poor thing). We have jumped from curriculum to curriculum over the years for various reasons. She is extremely bright and has always read FAR above grade level, which makes it a challenge to keep her engaged. Right now, we're using Sonlight's Core 2 and she loves all the books, the problem is the time involved. I am finding it hard to factor in my other daughter. I sat down with my husband and we've pared it down for the rest of the year so I can give my poor kindergartner the attention she needs. I think it's going to work better, but we'll have to wait and see
So, that brings us to next year, I am going to buy Beyond Little Hearts for my youngest with the emerging reader's set. I'm VERY excited about it, and I think it will be perfect for her. Here's my dilemma, what about my oldest? The same friend who loaned me Core 2 is willing to loan me Core 3 for next year. I'm a little worried about doing Sonlight with HOD, that I'll be biting off more than I can chew. I want to do American History with her for certain, but I can't see her fitting into HOD unless I place her in Bigger Hearts, and purchase the extension package, but I'm afraid she'll have gaps because it doesn't cover early American history. The other thought I had was, to do something else, like Beautiful Feet, and then do Bigger with both of them the year after. OR (I know, it's a lot to take in), I could somehow "ramp up" Beyond for my oldest by using Christian Liberty Press's, "A Child's Story of America," and various other living books. Either way, I think I'm going to purchase, "Drawn into the Heart of Reading," for my oldest. At least that's decided! Since Core 3 is being loaned to me, I can pare it down, but then, would Bigger Hearts for His Glory work the year after when she's a 5th grader (I would have to purchase Core 4)?
The reality is, HOD may not work for my oldest at all, and I guess that's fine
. However, I think, for my own sanity, I need to find something that would mesh well with it, at least for the next year or two, until oldest is working a little more independently, and youngest is an independent reader. If others have used Sonlight with it, great! Please let me know how you made it work! Same with Beautiful Feet. However, if there's something I'm missing about placement, please let me know. I love everything I've seen of HOD's, and I would love to slip my oldest in somehow.
Thanks!
Dorinda
