Hi Ladies. I really like this board. I think I will hang out here more

ok... even though we are not close to finishing .... I want to get my *head* together on what I will need.

I understand what my boys will need.... they are in Little Hearts right now. I will buy Preparing for Alyssa.

so I will need the economy pk
econonmy science add on (which I WANT)
we use our own english/grammar/math
drawn into the heart of reading ?
Lead me to the Rock
Basic Pk

AND do I buy the deluxe pkg AND the extension pkg. We will do the ext. pkg... but not if I will need SURE if I will need the deluxe AND the extension?

Not sure I will have that much $$ although I will save this and use it with my boys when they get to that level.

I do have several of the deluxe books.... and also the DITHOR books....

just need some affirmation. :?

hmmm..... trying to sort it all out.

Hi Teena! :D

I can't remember how old Alyssa is. And that will determine if you need the self-study deluxe or the self-study extension for her. I'm going to be doing Preparing next year with my oldest who will be 9 (4th grader), so we're planning to get the deluxe package for him. (The extension is for 5th and 6th graders doing Preparing and I believe you use it instead of the deluxe books.) I have heard that many of the moms and kids doing Preparing love the Draw and Write through History book that's part of the deluxe package. So, if your daughter is in the older age range, that may be one worth getting that she'd enjoy doing from the younger set.

You have everything else listed that you'll need. I've heard SO many good things about Preparing thanks to the ladies who share their weekly reviews and other snapshots! We're going to have fun next year! :D

Kathleen, thanks so much. :) Alyssa is older.. she is 11 and will be 12 in Aug. so I will do extension with her and I am doing extensions with her in bigger.

I am glad that I will not need both. Not sure how I could swing ($$) both... so your advice really helps. I think I will cut/paste it so that I do not forget .... probably two months from now I would ask the same thing

We love Bigger. :)

feel free to share MORE.... anyone :)

Hi Teena,

I am using PHFHG with my girls this year. My older dd is 11. I recommend the economy, science, basic & some extension for older students. However, the deluxe has some excellent choices that you won't want to miss.
Noah's Ark, Noah's Flood *great
The 5,000-Year-Old Puzzle: Solving a Mystery of Ancient Egypt *great
Draw and Write Through History: Creation Through Jonah *wonderful
The Trojan Horse* most libraries have this
The Young Christian's Introduction to the Bible *very informative
Little Miriam of Galilee *fabulous!
Now money is an issue for me as well. So I only bought the books that my library didn't have. I bought 4 out of the 6 extension for older students. I bought more of the deluxe(the ones listed cause my library didn't have those).
The CD we bought is nice but we really don't use it much. It is too slow for my kids taste. They like more upbeat music. DITHOR is sitting on my shelf. I haven't fit it in this year...I think I might do it over our summer break.
Hope that helps! Ask me anything else you think of.

Your gonna LOVE phfhg!!

Thanks Georgette. I am still thinking all this through. :) I know I will do Beyond with my boys and Preparing w/ Alyssa. Not sure how I will work the pkgs. I have lots of the stuff for the boys so it will cost less for me.... so maybe that will help as I can get more for Alyssa.

My friend has been looking at HOD too. I told her to come here and ask any questions ;)
