What do you think?

Post by pbt1294 » Sat Feb 28, 2009 1:45 pm

So, Here is what I'm gonna do....

I'm gonna go a head an order the new Ancients program for my oldest and let her get started. We'll stop for a little this summer, and then pick back up with it next year. I'm packing up her Sonlight stuff and shipping it back, so I'm gonna need something for her.

I'm gonna let my 1st and 2nd grader finish up with their phonics program, Sing, Spell, Read and Write, although I am gonna go ahead and purchase the Italic B for my 1st grader and the Cheerful Cursive for my 2nd grader, so when they get started in Beyond next year they can do the poetry copywork in the "new" handwriting that they have practiced. The older one has been begging me to teach her cursive and I just can't see making her wait another year (in Bigger) to learn. I know she will enjoy it, she has always loved handwriting for some reason and was disappointed this year when I didn't give her a handwriting book. (Sing, Spell, Read and Write said that handwriting was included, but we are 3/4ths of the way through the program and I've yet to see any formal handwriting practice)

Anyway, this summer (or sooner) when we order Beyond I will also order Little Hands for my preschooler and 2 year old (she will be two by then).

I think this is what I'm gonna do. If I could afford it I would just order everything now, but I must see if I can sell some of our old Sonlight curriculum first. :?

I'm so excited,
Kyle

sounds good. Although this is our first year with HOD. I understand the $$$ but you should be able to sell your sonlight. Praying you do.

Yeah, the "notify me" button is cool. They send an email to you telling you that someone has posted on your thread!!! That way you don't have to keep checking the board.

Thanks for your prayers!!!

Everyone here seems so sweet!

Blessings,
Kyle

Your welcome :) I really enjoy it here. Carrie is so helpful and always available. Others jump in and help... that is great.

we love it. I have such a peace about using HOD. My 11 yr old just gets it and everything clicks together... and she doesn't forget. It is real to her.

:) keep us posted

Kyle,

I'm excited that you are excited, so I hate to throw a wrench in your plans. However, the new ancients guide will not be shipping until August 1st, as it is still being written! So, you'll need an in-between plan for your older daughter if you were planning to start her now on that. The rest of our guides are all complete, but the ancients is our newest offering and is on pre-order right now. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

 Guess I'll have to wait then! Oh well, that actually helps me not to chomp at the bit so much. So, do you think I'll have much problem getting the guide in August? My hubby was actually telling me to just let her read books and do her math for the rest of the year. He wants me to just let her help out with the other kiddo's school. It's crazy to hear him say that since he was not all on board with hsing when we started five years ago. He had been an elementary school teacher for 5 years before he went into the ministry, so I think he was skeptical of hsing at first. I hear him say now all the time, "aren't you glad you hs?"

Thanks,
Kyle

Kyle,

We've never missed a deadline yet, so we're on schedule to ship the guides out the first week in August. :D All other resources are already shipping now.

Blessings,
Carrie
