I actually have an English question this time!!!!

Hannah will be doing the NEW Ancients guide! She is in 4th grade currently and we have been using easy grammer 4 so far this year. If we get the R&S 4 am I to understand that we do NOT need the Write with the Best program. When I read about R&S 4 it said that because it is writing intensive you do not need an extra writing program. Am I understanding correctly??

Yes, normally it is true that Rod and Staff is complete as far as writing and grammar go. However, for the new ancients guide we are recommending that due to the intensity of the grammar instruction in Rod and Staff that for either Level 4 or Level 5, you take 2 years to cover it (doing half one year and half the next). This will allow kiddos to mature a bit before heading into higher levels of diagramming and will also give parents some breathing room in the area of grammar instruction (so as to not burn out in the teaching of grammar).

In the ancients guide, we will be alternating Rod and Staff instruction with Write with the Best instruction with each receiving 2 days a week. This is so kiddos get a chance to do some creative writing in addition to the more formulistic writing that is done in Rod and Staff. It will help kiddos have a balanced grammar and writing experience.
