Singapore Question

If I wanted to use Singapore alone and not do the hands on part (though sometimes I might)...what is the best way to proceed through the material? I am getting confused going between the textbook and workbook. Should I just follow the textbook and assign workbook pages when the little blue arrows come up? Or do you all not use the textbook? I have Bigger, but I don't see that the textbook is ever used. (Level 2A)

Hi Patience! :) In Bigger, the hands-on plans in the HOD guide are the instructional part for 2A/2B, so the Textbooks are not needed. If you are not going to do the hands-on activities, then you'd need the Textbooks for the instructional part. The hands-on parts are really great though - I'd personally rather do those then more paper/pencil with the textbook since that comes next in 3A/3B anyway. But, that's totally up to you of course! :)

Julie

Oh I see. I didn't realize that the hands on component replaced the textbook. Gee, that is nice. I'd much rather do that. Thanks.

Sure thing! :D By the time you hit 3A/3B, then you'll need the textbooks, but there's a schedule in the Appendix of Bigger and PHFHG that has daily plans for both the workbooks and the textbooks, so that makes it much easier than trying to figure out what matches up on your own.
