I was wondering if I could still get the Earlybird US books from HOD or if they are no longer available? I assume the lesson plans correspond with the US edition? I don't know if the new Standards edition will work with the manual? That is all that is available now unless HOD has the other ones in stock. I am guessing I will start ds with Earlybird and dd with 1A and B if that is what curriculum I settle on for now. We can't stand Horizons anymore. I was thinking of MUS, but then I was reading how well Singapore is coordinated into the manuals and I really, really want to make this next year as smooth as possible without extra planning on my part!

Hmmm..along the same lines, Primary 1A samples and scope and sequence look too easy for dd(6 1/2). She's beyond most of that. She might be ready to start 1B, is that possible? She is just needing a bit more practice with math facts. 1B actually looks more appropriate for ds--5. He's already memorizing math facts, knows shapes, numbers, counts to 20, etc. Is there an appendix in Beyond with plans for Primary 2A and B?? I'm confused.

Currently LHFHG has Singapore Earlybird 2A and 2B scheduled into it. Carrie has said that HOD has enough of the Singapore books to go with the guides they currently have printed. She will be rewriting the hands-on activities to go with either the Earlybird Standards edition...or something else by Singapore. (Can't remember exactly what it was... ) I believe that will be early this summer. Carrie has said that they really liked the original way...but those books are out of print as you said. So, if you're wanting to order now, you'll have what you need there. Otherwise if you want to wait till later this summer to order, you'll be able to get the new package for math.

Carrie has written hands-on activities to go with the Sungapore workbooks for the younger years. If you want to use these along with the workbooks, you'll need the following guides:
Earlybird 2A and 2B - LHFHG
Primary 1A and 1B - Beyond LHFHG
2A and 2B - Bigger HFHG
From level 3A on, HOD schedules the use of the textbook along with the workbook for instruction.

Now, if you don't have these guides, additional levels of Singapore are scheduled in the appendix of the guide, but you will need to use Singapore's textbook (with the workbook) at the younger levels rather than Carrie's activities. I'm using 2A and 2B this year, and we have really enjoyed the hands-on activities with our math lessons!

Singapore has a placement test on their website that is free and does a great job of showing you where to start your child. The 1st test is for Primary level 1A. Passing this test means that your child is ready for the next book (1B). So, I don't know if it will help you or not, but you could check it out.

Yikes, I didn't even realize that it was the US version instead of standard. OKay, I have been planning to purchase Little Hearts sometime in the next month or so. I just like to look it over and see how everything fits together. We will not actually be starting it until the fall though. SO... should I go ahead and purchase now, or should I wait until the "rewrite" is complete? I have two children who will be using this program after my first dd as well, so I guess I would hate to have my guide be "incorrect" when I go to use it with them. Is she going to have complete new guides made up, or she just going to have a little rewrite that you can download from the site? Will it for sure be done by the end of the summer?

So if I need to place dd in primary 2A while doing Beyond, I would need to get the textbook, is that what I'm understanding or are there 2A plans in the appendix? Or I could just buy Bigger and use the plans in there? I guess then I'd be ready for the next year with Bigger and I wouldn't have to also buy the textbook? This is the most confusing part. I just don't think we need to back up for 1A, maybe 1B. I think I could possibly start ds on 1A, but dd is fairly beyond the concepts taught there unless I just need to get her used to the method? That could be true of ds too, would I need to back him up to earlybird just to get him used to Singapore or can you start at primary 1A without doing earlybird and still "get it". Sorry, I'm not trying to sound difficult! Just trying to talk myself through it!

I went ahead and purchased four sets (including one for my baby due in May) of the earlybird through HOD a few weeks ago, so that I'd have it with my current manual and not have to adapt anything. That's always an option.

That same thought did cross my mind!! I almost think I will wait though... as hard as that is going to be. That is of course if there will be a new guide printed by the end of the summer. That way if I start my dd out with "standard Singapore" I won't have to switch over from U.S. to Standard when she finishes earlybird. So, I guess my question is... will there be a new guide printed or just a "rewrite" that we can download from this site?

I remember this topic being discussed and yes, HOD plans to print new LHFHG guides to accomodate the Singapore Math changes. The plan is to have the rewritten LHFHG guides some time this summer.

I did want to clarify just a couple of things on the Singapore Math. We will be staying with the Primary Math U.S. Edition of Singapore for levels 1A on up through 6B. The only math we'll be changing is the Earlybird Math, as Singapore is going out of print on that level only. We will most likely use the new Standards version for K math, but are also looking at another Singapore K program that is black and white but is more homeschool friendly instead. So, the jury is still out on which one we will write into the updated version of LHFHG.

At this point our new guide is taking all of our time to write, so we will not be updating the LHFHG guide until July/August. We are looking at having the updated guides of LHFHG in stock in September. We have been able to continue ordering Earlybird Singapore Math right now, even though it is supposed to be out-of-print. So, we have plenty in stock to cover our printings of our LHFHG guides without updates right now. The Lord takes good care of us timing-wise to make sure our customers have the Earlybird Math they'll need to match our current LHFHG guides, while still allowing us needed time to work on our current book.

I just wanted to let you know our time-frame has changed slightly so you could plan accordingly.
