Changing Math ?

So the more I read on here the more I think I need to switch my son to Singapore (we are using Horizons right now). He does well with written but the mental math just doesn't seem to be coming. So here's the question. We are in Unit 12 of Beyond which is still using 1A and 1B isn't used until day 5 of Unit 15. Can I just start with 1B when we get to it or should I find a way to catch him up through 1A. Also we are almost done with the first workbook of Horizons, as in we should be done by the end of next week with it. That would give me 2 weeks to catch him up (give or take) would that possibly be enough or have I thrown off my entire year

I think the concensus was do 1A before 1B even if it was really easy for your child.

Thanks Tansy, I guess I'll just order both and see where it takes.
I agree with Tansy

I would start with 1A and don't worry about if you aren't "on schedule". You might not 'catch up' for a while or not at all, just go with your child's schedule. It'll work out.

paliz,
I would also advise giving your little honey the Singapore placement test. We've found that to be so accurate for placing kiddos in Singapore. The big jumps in Singapore come at the beginning of 2A and beginning of 3A, so if your kiddo placed in 2A or 3A, we would recommend starting one semester back.
However, if your kiddo places in any of the earlier levels, you should be able to start in that level. Here is the link to the placement test:
