Another Spelling Question

Post by butterfly113 » Mon Feb 16, 2009 2:39 pm

In Preparing, as the spelling dictation is done, is it passages, or just words or phrases? Does each week focus on a different spelling... ie one week is long vowels, another week may be short vowels, another week on diagraphs or dipthongs...

thanks

The lowest level of dictation in Preparing contains two-sentence long dictations. Most are followed by a short list of words of similar type (for example, a short list of words which also contain "ee" as does a word in the dictation sentence).

Dictation levels 3 and 4 in Preparing do not contain word lists in addition to the dictation. By level 4 the dictation is three or more much longer sentences or poetry verses.

All levels have words in bold that are assumed to be new to the student.

Hope that helps!

Here's a link to a previous thread, where my3sons gives examples from each of the levels of dictation provided in Preparing Hearts. Make sure to scroll down to her second post on the thread to view the samples!:

I also responded a bit earlier today (in a different thread related to this same topic) with some links that explain how the passages in Preparing are laid out. :D
