Manipulatives for Primary Math 1A & 1B?

I was wondering if there are any manipulatives that might be helpful to use with the Primary 1A and 1B? I know when I used the Earlybird, it was helpful to have a clock, counter bears, and a scale.

Thanks so much!

Your counter bears will come in handy with 1A/1B (though they're not necessary - they are fun). We have some too. Other than than, snacks are used quite often in working the problems (a huge hit with my snack-loving ds :D ). Things like chocolate chips, mini-marshmallows, cheerios, etc. all work. We've used cotton balls a few times too - but several suggestions are usually given, like marshmallows OR cotton balls OR cereal pieces. Sometimes we've used pasta noodles or yarn pieces, but other suggestions are usually given otherwise too. We've always had everything to work the problems. You're going to have a lot of fun with the hands-on math - it is just a no-stress way to teach early math concepts.

Thanks Julie! My kids could never do without snacks! Sounds good!

BTW, I saw that you or Carrie were going to be in Des Moines again this year. I don't live there anymore, but I told my mom that she needs to get over there to see her grandkids in those photobooks! :D Oh, I wish I could you see your display out here in Cali! I am sure it's wonderful!! :D

Thanks, LeAnna! We'd love to meet you face-to-face, but meeting your mom is going to be great too. :D We'll be sweating it out in the Des Moines gym - no a/c and sizzling hot - it is truly like an aerobic workout. :D BUT, we meet the most wonderful people there; so, it is still a treat! We're getting excited for book fair season, and looking forward to meeting any HODies that are able to come. We're very thankful for the board though, since it gives the blessing of letting us meet moms in another way too (and, we're not running around half-crazy like we are at the book fairs  ).

In Christ,
Julie
