How long do you spend w. Singapore

Hi all! I'm trying to decide whether or not to go ahead and make the switch to Singapore or stick with Bob Jones. I can't believe we are already finished the whole workbook and it's only Feb. How much time do you spend on teaching the lesson per child? I would mainly be in 1B and 2B. And could I sit the children down at the same time to do "math" or would it not work very well that way? (Need to do separately one on one?) :D

It really depends on the lesson for that day. Most days it takes me about 1/2 hr or less to do math with two children. I have one doing 3A and one doing 1A. I don't do the math activities in the book though. We are doing Beyond and my 9 yrs. is ahead a year and my 7 is behind a year for Beyond. I find I can just help them with what I have at home and they really don't care about all the fancy things, but if they were both doing the same math as suggested in Beyond I probably would do the math activities with them. As for doing both at the same time. Try it out and see if it works, other wise doing it one on one is not bad at all. My kids love that they get that and phonic time with just me. Hope this helps. More will answer on this I am sure!

I spend about 10-15 minutes total a day on math. We're in 1A though. That's with doing the activities in the guide and the workbook. We also usually add some work with the abacus from when we were doing RightStart. She also does two lessons a day usually, but she really likes math. I think that with two kids it shouldn't take you longer than 30 minutes to do. You could easily sit them at the same table and have one do something independent while the other starts on math and does the lesson part, and then that student could work on the worksheet while you're first one does his/her lesson.

I'm doing the activities in Beyond with my dd7 in 2A. It takes me about 5-10 minutes to teach her with the activities then she does her work independently which takes about 5-15 minutes. I think you could teach one child and get them started while you teach the other-- likely starting with the older, more independent student.
