Unsolicited BIGGER Storytime reviews ;)

Post by momof2n2 » Sat Jan 31, 2009 10:35 am

My favorite part of BIGGER is the storytime suggestions. Okay - I like so much else of it, too. But nothing like storytime. It is our favorite time of day.

So - the Butler family reviews!
For Storytime this year we read Buffalo Knife which we gave 5 stars, and Tucker's Countryside which we LOVED until the last chapter when they duped the townspeople. But still - it was a book we could not WAIT to read each day. _I_ also loved Snow Treasure, which lost my 6 year old, but he tried to hold on. And my 8 year old contends he didn't like it, but he still remembers and mentions it frequently. We just finished The Case of the Dognapped Cat by BJU and LOVED IT. It fit the daily Storytime activities PERFECTLY! We also did Phylis Wheatley for Biography, which we liked, too. I need to pickup the choices from Non-Fiction from the library this week. I am not sure which one will will go with - Earthquake or Shipwrecked! I bet.

Okay - back to work ;)
Hope this blesses someone!

Well, this IS a blessing! :D It is exciting to hear your dc are loving learning about reading - growing a passion for reading is an overall goal for reading always, so that's wonderful! I have sent you a PM about this too.

Oooh, I'm so glad that you are enjoying the Storytime. I was taking a trip down memory lane as you were sharing the titles of the books you've read this year. We've enjoyed all of those too. 8)

Thanks so much for sharing your favorites! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

We just love storytime too...so much that it's the last thing we do each day. We have read Come On Sea Biscuit and are almost done with Sarah Bishop (one we already had on our shelves...don't think it was an HOD suggestion). When that one is completed, we will begin Tucker's Countryside. We read A Cricket inTImes Square with Beyond... last year with dd. Funnily enough, it was my son that wanted to read Tucker's Countryside....he has since re-read ACITS and wants to move on in the 'series'. It wasn't even the program he was doing but he enjoyed it so much. Anyway, we've truly loved the story time selections, and look forward to getting to the next one!

Yes, Stewart really wanted to connect with Tucker and Harry and Chester again.
Let me know what they think of the book.
It is so funny how it led into each other... the character trait of that week was Integrity... and then, well,... I don't want to spoil it. Let me know what L. and H. think!
