Do you read the books too?

I haven't read a lot of the titles that are recommended with DITHOR, or with the other programs. I'd like to, but am not sure I'll take the time...

Are you able to teach/help your children if you aren't familiar with the storyline for several of the books they read? particularly in Preparing?

My son reads the book to his sister and I, he's 8. Maybe your child could read it to you?

For me, it's a time issue. So that would take even longer than if I read them myself...

Hi StillJulie,

I don't think we've met yet, but I wanted to say hello and how much I've enjoyed reading your posts. Your excitement is contagious! (through your questions and comments) I can't wait for you to start as it will be fun to read your week in review's. I have been reading your posts and see that you've had to make lots of big decisions for your gang. I began with three programs and ended up just doing one. But I am not good at managing lots of different things on a consistent basis. I know other moms who have done great using 2-3 HOD programs. All I know is HOD has breathed life, order and Christ into our home and I am forever grateful that the Lord led me to HOD. It's fun, easy to implement and my manuel is my friend. My family laughs when they see me jokingly smooch it.

Because you are biting off a lot from the get-go, I would simply let my children read them and tell me about what they read. In a perfect world you could do everything, but if you strive for that after awhile you will burn out. Keeping it simple will give you the ability to meet your other goals outside of homeschooling. (Daily quiet time w/ your Savior, dishes, laundry, cuddling, etc) Choose to keep it simple so you can enjoy your journey :D

HTH,
Mary
