I was just curious how you all handled the poetry copywork for your children. Do you write it out for your child on their lined paper to copy or trace? Do you simply hand them a copy of the poem and let them copy it onto their paper? I just wanted to see what is working for you all. Thanks!

We did Beyond last year and I would make a copy of the poem to keep in his notebook then ds would copy from that. At the beginning though, I would write it on the chalk board and he would copy it from there. He still prefers copying from the chalk board for some reason...

We have always used a large white dry-erase board for copywork. I bought this very cheaply at Lowe's home improvement store. At one time they were on sale for ~$3 or so for the large size, as they were on clearance with some other wall boards (these may have been samples, I'm not really sure). You can also have the largest size cut into smaller boards. You could easily get 4 very nice sized boards from a $10 board. I think it is called bathroom board, but I'm not sure. Just ask the salesperson, and they'll know just what you're looking for.

I hope this helps you. We have always used our dry-erase board for math, spelling charts, copywork--you name it. I have also used it for narrations. We did this yesterday, and my little guy was thrilled to see his narration in large print on the dry-erase board. He thought it looked like so much more than what I usually type for him.

I use Startwrite. Just type it in and they can copy below (or on top of dotted lines if they need that).
