I'm not sure if I'm missing something or not, but it looks like there isn't any handwriting with Beyond. Is that correct? Also, what grade is cursive usually taught and does anyone have any suggestions on what cursive program worked for them? Thanks.

There is copy work in Beyond with the Poetry lessons and then also your dc will write their spelling words. But there is not a scheduled handwriting curriculum like there was in Little Hearts. Cursive is schedule in Bigger.
Handwriting is easy to schedule in though if you feel like your child needs more. I did and so ds would do handwriting after breakfast when we were doing Beyond. That would give me time to clean up before starting our curriculum time. We were doing Handwriting Without Tears but I have since gone back to A Reason for Handwriting. For cursive, we will use Cheerful Cursive.
I just noticed you were married in 3/98 so were we!!!

Hi there! Bigger Hearts schedules Cheerful Cursive, and it is a great program. We used it last year with Bigger and my ds is doing great with his cursive on his own now this year. There's no need to add handwriting to Beyond either, because it has daily copywork, which serves as the handwriting. HTH!

Julie

We do handwriting with Reading Made Easy and I also added Writing With Ease by Susan Wise Bauer. I love her program and it is new this year. I also add Language Lessons by Jessie Wise (Susan's mother) which is about a 5-10 minute per day grammar lesson. Between the two writing opportunities we are seeing nice progress. I generally do not have dd do the Poetry copywork since we do the other 2 (RME and WWE). I am planning to introduce cursive in the 2nd grade and I have the Transition book from A Reason for Handwriting.
HTH,
Judy
