Well, hello all! I've been reading a lot of the messages posted over the last couple of months as a form of "studying" what works for you all, (thank you) and now I'm about to launch into my new career as a homeschool mom! I wanted to share my (newest) plan and submit it to ya'll for scrutiny! :D
My two boys will be 1 yr apart in school and I think they will be very comperable in skill level so I'm planning on getting them into the same guide together. What I'm planning is to do just the right side of LHFHG with my older ds 5 this yr while doing LHTH with both of them. This way I'll be concentrating on the 3R's with my older son seperately. I'll includede K science for both of them ( The World God Made) as written thruout the year. Storytime will be shared over lunch w/ both of them. I "tested" my 3 yr old in Nov. and he sat thru Ch 1 of Reddy Fox and wanted more... ( my five yr old was like, wait! there must be a mistake! There aren't enough pictures!! But he liked the story too  ) I will plan to do LHFHG next year as written for both of them with each of them doing separate K or 1st options except they'll do science together. I did already get the Singapore K workbooks for my younger ds for next year too. For this year I also have the Wee Sing America & Bible cd's and the Childrens Illustrated Bible from the History Supplement list of LHFHG. I'm excited to be starting and I appreciate the variety that is presented in the guides. Both boys learned their letters and the sounds they make when they were around two, but I think it will still be a lot of fun to do LHTH b/c of all the different ideas Carrie has in there!! What else?
Thank you in advance for your support!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Victoria
p.s. I should ask - what does the d stand for re: our family members? I always read it as 'darling' and it works for me but is it supposed to mean something else?

Welcome Victoria! You'll love HOD and keeping your boys together is a wonderful idea. Your plan sounds great. Is your 3 year old going to be 4 before you start LHTH? The ladies on this board will be most helpful to you as they have been to me.

Have a blessed New Year!

Victoria,

I am certainly not a placement expert, but your plan sounds perfect! It looks as if you have really planned well and it should be smooth sailing for all of you. The beauty of the HOD guides is that they really are incredibly flexible giving you the ability to meet the needs of all of your children.

With that said, welcome to HOD, it really is nice to have you join us! :D The group of ladies here are helpful beyond belief and it is wonderful to be able to share in the homeschooling journey with like minded moms who have a heart for Christ.
A super added bonus is having Carrie and Julie available to offer suggestions and provide answers right here on the HOD forums. The sense of community is tremendous!

And I completely agree about the variety presented in the guides, everything is perfectly arranged to appeal to the kiddos and to offer a really substantial and very purposeful education both academically and biblically. My daughter truly adores her school time with HOD and she has learned so much about God and about applying His principles in life. And guess what? I have too! I will probably always be amazed at how well everything is woven together! Okay, I could go on about this forever, so again, welcome and enjoy your journey!

Happy New Year,
Candice :D

I think your plan sounds great, too! I know you're going to have so much fun with LHTH! I'm enjoying it right now with my little 2. (And I just started doing The Reading Lesson with Allison to start some phonics. It works great! )

Victoria,

Welcome to the boards! We're glad to have you here. :D You have really done your homework, and I couldn't have come up with any better plan for your kiddos myself. We pray you'll have a wonderful time enjoying your HOD journey.

Joe,
I have to admit that you had me all teared up when I read your post to your wife, and I'm not much of a crier! What an amazing example of the way Christ wants husbands to encourage and uplift their wives. United together, you can accomplish great things for the Lord. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Well now that we all think your husband is wonderful, :D welcome! How sweet that was.

I have not done LHTH and I say that with a sad heart so I can relate to what you are saying. I do LHFHG with a 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 year old now 4 and 6. We have gone through it slowly and it has been wonderful. Congratulations on hsing your kids. You will love it. And welcome to HOD! :D
