Drawn Into the Heart of Reading...

Hi! It's been awhile since I have been on here, but I was looking at the catalog again thinking about next year and the years to follow.

I was wondering about when I get to Bigger.... Would I use the Storytime time books along with the 2/3 Drawn Into The Heart of Reading books, or one or the other? What are all of you doing? And how are you scheduling that into your day?
Thanks!
LeAnna

The story time books are done separately from the DITHOR program. With DITHOR you can use the books suggested on the site (there are book packs available) or you can choose any book you like for the genre you are studying. So, DITHOR is done
in addition to the story time box. You can do it (DITHOR) every day or just 2-3 days a week. HTH

Is there going to be book packs for the next levels of Drawn Into the Heart of Reading? (levels 4/5; 6/7/8)

I believe that is the plan...and those should be on the web site soon. Hopefully, Carrie will chime in here to confirm that for you!

I know I saw that Carrie was reviewing books for this purpose earlier. So, I agree with inHistiming's "yes". I think she said after the 1st of the year sometime. (So for sure before your little ones are ready for them.

) When I ordered DITHOR last spring, I got the teacher manual, the 2/3 student book, and Carrie's book list. There is a package for this on the DITHOR part of the website. Carrie's book list gives reccommendations for all the levels and genres.
We're doing Bigger and DITHOR this year. We're doing DITHOR daily, but you could do it less often. It does cover the same genres as the storytime in Bigger - and the character quality that you focus on each genre is the same. (for example...When you read the Biography, you talk about showing responsibility.) There are ideas that are in the storytime box that aren't in DITHOR and vice versa. The biggest difference is that your child reads in DITHOR and you read in Storytime.
You'll love both of these programs when you get to them!

PS Did you stay in CA for Christmas...or make the big trip to IA?

Thanks Kathleen and inHisTiming!

Our book packs for Level 4/5 are ready to go and actually in stock, we're just waiting for our busy web designer to get a chance to get them up on our website. They will be up sometime after the first of the year.

There will be a Girl Pack and a Boy Pack. My kiddos are reading them this year with DITHR and are really enjoying them! The Level 2 and Level 3 packs are already on the site.
Blessings,
Carrie
