Question about the Emerging Readers Schedule

Is the schedule in Bigger the same one that is in Beyond? I am planning on using Beyond for 1st grade next year and I am not sure if my dd will be ready for the emerging readers by then. I may just continue with our phonics program. I really like the books on the list and would hate for her to miss them. So I was wondering if I could have her read them when we do Bigger? TIA!

Gina are you talking about the emerging read or the Girl's Interest pack? I am thinking you are talking about the GI pack for Beyond for her to still want to be reading it by the time of Bigger. I bought it for my little girls to use next year in Beyond and for my big girls to use this year with DITHR. So I think you could easily do that. Some may be a little high depending on how strong a reader she is then but most will work. It worked perfect for me!

I was actually talking about the emerging readers. I think the Girl's Interest are read alouds and the emerging readers are books for her to read to me. Anyway, thanks for your input water2wine. I do still need to choose which read-alouds I want for Beyond. I am glad the GI is working for you. I will have to check it out.

Gina,

You're right in thinking that the Emerging Reader Schedule in the Appendix is the same in both "Beyond..." and "Bigger..." so that no matter when your kiddos are ready for it, you have it in the guide you're using.

So, you can easily continue on with your phonics instruction while you use "Beyond..." and then use the Emerging Reader Set when you get to "Bigger..." (or whenever your little honey is ready for it)! :D

Thanks so much for answering my question Carrie. I just love the books on the Emerging Readers schedule (we already own some of them) and I wanted to be sure she would not miss out on them. Thanks again! :D

Gina,

You're welcome! We had so much fun reading those books too. I personally love many of them as well, especially "Owl at Home". Tear soup just cracks me up!

Blessings,
Carrie
