More review in Singapore Math....

So, I'm not in the midst of this right now as many of you know...dd is still in school for now, but I'm planning for when we jump back into HOD.

I love Singapore, but I have a kid that really needs more review. What do you recommend? A different program or add in some extra SM or other workbooks or ???I'm not looking for a "drill" type math at all (like saxon or abeka)...I've used Horizons, but I don't know if I like the 6 different topics in each lesson with so little attention to the new topic. DD always seemed a little overwhelmed by it even if it was stuff she could do.
She's forgetting simple things, like addition/subtraction with carrying/borrowing and telling time...I prefer NOT to leave singapore if there's a good way to add in the review.

Thanks for your advice! :D

Maybe try the new Standards Edition of Singapore, which according to Carrie has a great deal more review and practice in it?

There is a program called Math Mammoth. You can download e-books of specific topics like addition, subtraction, money, telling time etc. The are reasonably priced (from $2 - $6) and you can pull them out when you need extra review. I have several of them and they have been great. Math Mammoth has their own website and you can also get them on CurrClick.com.

I second Math Mammoth...we use it as a review or extra help with great success....the price is TOTALLY reasonable as another post said and then you can reuse for other children or to review again (KWIM!)

We supplement Singapore math with workbooks that we bought at Walmart called Total Math. I don't know if Walmart still sells them, they were clearanced one time and I stocked up... But they are available online, here's one place to get them:

Try http://www.donnayoung.org. There are various free worksheets for math (and other subjects) that you can print right from the site.

You might try the Intensive Practice or Challenging Word Problems books that Singapore puts out. If you prefer not to leave Singapore that's what I would recommend. We use them and I think it helps.

HTH!
