Preparing with More than One

I have been browsing through my Preparing Manual in great anticipation for next year. I am wondering if anyone out there is currently using it with more than one child? I will be using it with three - my 4th grade twins and 6th grade dd. Since so much of it is independently using the resources, how do you make this work? Just schedule each child to be doing a different box in the manual at a different time? I know this is a rather silly question, but I'm having a hard time envisioning this. I'm so used to doing the activities and reading together, that I would love some practical advice on how to schedule this for three kiddos.
Also, my oldest will be using the Extension Pack. Would she also do ALL the things scheduled in the manual and then add on the Extension to that? (Does she read the books scheduled in the Manual as well as the Extension books is what I'm asking.)
I appreciate anyone's help with this!!

Hi Tiffini,
I am currently using PHFHG with my 8dd &11dd. I have them do it all together. They enjoy talking about what they are doing & my older dd will help her sister if I am busy. My 11dd does the reading extensions alone usually. Although, recently she has been reading them to her sister. I thought that was so nice! They do their own math lessons at same time in the day usually. So far this all works well for us. I do help my 8dd a lot as she is not as independent as her sister. Since they are on the same topic at the same time it helps me focus better on teaching them. So, as my 11dd is working on science my 8dd is working on it too with me helping her. I usually read the independent stuff to them cause I love it! My older dd does finish first with the assignments but since her math & LA is more in depth they end up being finished around the same time. I think it is easier this way.
I hope I made some sense!!
Blessings,

Hi Tiffini! I'm only doing PHFHG with one of our dc, but I would do it like Georgette is describing if I had more than one. I think that sounds like a super way to go about it! You are going to love PHFHG - we are in about week 13 and really enjoying it. Give yourself a few weeks or a month to get a routine down and teach the "first-time" skills, and then it will all flow so smoothly! I'm so glad you'll be doing it along with us.
In Christ,
Julie

Tiffini,
Your older daughter would listen in or read all of the resources found in the Economy Package, the Science Add-on Package, and the Extension Package. Your oldest would not do the books in the Deluxe Package (unless she'd like to do/read any of them you have on hand). Also, those in the Storytime Box (which is the Basic Package) are meant to be read aloud by you.
Clear as mud?
Blessings,
Carrie

Thanks, Georgette and Julie for your responses. I think I am starting to envision how it will work. I appreciate your help.
Carrie, thanks for your reply about my oldest. So, are you saying that the oldest will not do the Independent History Box each day (which I believe is what the Deluxe package is for), and instead will replace that with the Extension readings?

We do all the boxes & my youngest doesn't do the extension package.

Tiffini,
That's correct. The independent history box is for younger readers and the Extension Pack is for older readers. However, we are finding many families are having their older student do the Draw and Write portion along with the younger just for fun. It's up to you.
Blessings,
Carrie
