I haven't had much time to post on this board, but I still check it very regularly and keep up on everyone's prayer requests and updates. Someday, I hope to be able to contribute more to helping others as I get more HOD under my belt!
We are finishing Week 16 of Bigger Hearts right now. I really cannot be happier with this year of school! When I told my 8 yo ds that we only had 8 more school days until Christmas Break, he said, "Awwww..." I asked him what that meant and he said that he doesn't want to take a break from school. Wow!
I am not a crafty person AT ALL - and that is why I'm surprised that I am actually looking forward to the art projects and activities each week. Every one of them has been enjoyable. The activities that are weekly scheduled have been wonderful. Even the ones that I thought would be too baby-ish for my oldest has been thoroughly enjoyed by all.
This curriculum really is different than anything else out there. I have tried several over the last 5 years. It is truly unique and special. I am really looking forward to the future years. I know we all feel the same way and give so much thanks to God for this blessing. School is fun and enjoyable. This truly has been, by far, the least stressful and happiest year of homeschooling of the last 5-1/2.

Tiffanie,
I heartily agree with your post!! I am in week 13 of LHFHG with my kinder. dd and week 2 of Bigger with my 3rd grade ds. It is going better than I ever dreamed. I love the variety and the character/Bible lessons. I keep thinking about how summer break is going to be so boring compared to HOD! I actually predict ds will ask to keep working on it. (Well, probably not math and English, Lol!)

Tiffini,
So neat to read your post and find that you and your son are getting along so well with HOD, it really is a very unique and special curriculum and sooooo much more! I hear you about crafts, they can seem daunting at times, but HOD really makes it a breeze and very enjoyable. I think the reason that the crafts/activities are so satisfying is because they are truly purposeful and they tend to really help our kids absorb the lesson that is being taught in a memorable way. As a result of HOD, I am truly a craft/activity convert...I can honestly say that I love, love, love doing the craft portion with my daughter, it is wonderful, memorable, and educational! Bring on the crafts!

Re: Half-Way and Still in Love!
That's so great to hear, and I agree wholeheartedly.
I do think there is nothing out there like HOD, and we really enjoy school at our house too. We're in about week 13 of PHFHG, and we're still loving it too. I actually am a crafty person, but here comes a confession - until HOD, I never enjoyed doing crafts with my children. Oh, that sounds bad, doesn't it?
But it's true. I either wanted to take over the crafts or just not do them at all until HOD. I think Carrie just balances the steps of doing a craft so well, and also she balances how many crafts we do, and how often. I am really enjoying the crafts in HOD too, and I'm so thankful because I knew I needed help in that area. Thanks for sharing that!
