Can anyone compare these two programs? Anyone use both or discontinued one for another?
Thanks

HI, we used HOD's little Hands to Heaven, and Little Hearts for His Glory, then switched to MFW Adventures. Big mistake for us. We ditched it after 12 weeks and we are now using Beyond. My post from another thread:
netpea wrote:it was a disaster. Way too much work for the teacher each day and too much for my son. He hated schoolwork. It was a struggle each day. I ditched the curriculum and we just read and read and did workbooks until I bought Beyond. Now schoolwork is fun again.
That was our experience with Adventures. My daughter is using MFWK because I already bought it and she's not quite ready for Little Hearts for His Glory, then she will swich to HOD as well.

Hi Ann, (((Waving)))
I saw your name and just had to jump in. I am placing my order for "little hearts" and "bigger" in the next couple of weeks. I certainly can't speak from any kind of experience, but just wanted to say hello my friend
Mary! Mary!

We are doing MFW Adventures right now, and we are going to finish out our year, but I have been disappointed by it. I have found the Bible to be very light, and not integrated. I have found the science to be very, very poor, and we have gone with something completely different for science. I have found the manual to be inconsistent from day-to-day and week-to-week on scheduling and the amount of work. It has been very hard to get into that groove where you feel like you have a nice, predictable schedule. I do like their book basket concept though, but that is because it suggests resources we need to flesh out the topics, because the scheduled books are just textbooks, not living books. We've used the book basket suggestions extensively to compensate.
HOD just speaks to my heart. I love the layout and the predictability. I can just see how eveything is going to weave together and flow nicely. I love that Carrie has chosen wonderful living books. I can really see sticking with HOD for the long term. I will not be going back to MFW.

Hi annaz! I have not used HOD yet. But I did place my order for Bigger and will hopefully be starting in a couple weeks. We did use MFW Adventures last year and while I did like it, the second part of the year was not as enjoyable as the first. And I did tweak the whole thing! I was all set to use ECC this year, had all the materials, and spent a couple weeks going over the TM and books before the start of the school year. I knew it was not going to be a good fit after studying the whole package. But, since I spent money on it, I was going to give it a try. We gave up on it after two weeks.
I think it may have worked had my kids been older (they are 3rd and 2nd), but it was still a little dry. I was very disappointed after having enjoyed Adventures. Anyway, I panicked and bought something else right away, without doing any research, and it hasn't been a good fit either. Then I found HOD, and it seemed perfect! I printed out the samples, and after reading them over and over, thought this is just what I have been looking for!
My kids had already asked to do another year of American history, so I spent a long time trying to find a spine that we would like, and had already selected the Eggleston books. I thought I was going to have to spend all summer writing lesson plans, but Bigger is exactly what I was looking for!
If you are still undecided, I would print off the first weeks lesson plans from all the programs you are considering. And then spend some time figuring out what your day will look like. Will you remember to do poetry if it's not scheduled? Dictation? How long will your days be? Do you like reading from several texts at once or prefer one spine that you can get a real narration from? Do you prefer reading from encyclopedias or from living books? Anyway, I didn't mean to go on so long. Let us know what you decide!

I'm confused ECC around here is a homeschool co-op where kids get hands on classes like Chemistry, Biology (dissection), Gym games that require teams or specialized equipment, Music theory ect... one day a week.

Tansy - ECC is a program from My Father's World called Exploring Countries and Cultures (or cultures and countries...I forget....).
Your ECC sounds like a lot of fun!

I've heard it is but I'm to chicken to join.. I could teach art or sewing but as a mom I'd have to provided a curriculum and then hope I could teach em all... runs and hides in closet...
anyone with a church building they can use can start one. Cause the moms and some dads do all the work. Your kid can take classes paying just expenses as long you teach or clean up.
ok now back to your regulary scheduled topic sorry bout the hijack
