HOD "student" declares...

Post by Rebecca » Wed Oct 29, 2008 8:53 pm

Today I remarked to my eight year old about how much I was enjoying our school... as I cast a happy glance toward my pile of manuals. I had DITHOR, Little Hearts, Beyond, and Bigger on my kitchen counter in a stack. Yes, I use them all! :o He replied and said," Yeah! I want to use HOD for all my years home schooled." I asked him why, he replied that he loves the variety so much. "All the different activites..."

SO- now the "kiddos" are chiming in for HOD high school!!!
Hint. Hint. I just can't help myself...
Big, happy grin.
I hope you are being encouraged and blessed Carrie. I am appreciating so much about your work. I love the "sturdiness" of my manuals as they are "drug" all over my house an bent occasionally and flipped through constantly. I love the Christ-centeredness. I love the way my little ones light up with their learning.
I love the confidence my older sons are exhibiting. Something about HOD is really enticing them to produce their best work. My seven year olds poems- his handwriting!!!! My eight year old and his notebooking...I asked him if he traced his seashore creatures I was so amazed. No he did NOT! I was informed.

Thank you!!
Rebecca

Rebecca - this conversation has taken place at my house, too! My 8 yo feels the same way. (He said that this year he's not so jealous of Allison because he gets to do fun things in school, too. I found LHTH last year and was using it with her...which is what led me to the website where I found the rest of HOD!! :D Gold Mine!! :D :P :D ) He also reminds me that I really don't need to use the computer anymore because I don't need to look for anything new to do for school. He likes what we've got.

Go, Carrie, go! (Our kids are counting on you! No pressure... )

Oh, this just blesses my heart today! :D I have my manuals piled up every day too, and my older son often longs for the activities my younger ones are getting to do. Today we have Egyptian pastries cooling on our counter to eat for lunch. My boys are beside themselves with anticipation! :D

My husband and I will continue to be in prayer over the high school years to see what the Lord has planned for us in that area! We're just so at peace with the decision to write our guides through grade 8, and we spent years (literally) praying over that decision until we finally knew we had a clear-cut answer. I am humbled by you wondeful ladies and your constant encouragement! The Lord blessed us with this board and with each of you. 8)

Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie,

My I ask what you plan to use if you do not write the high school years? I am trying to figure out what I will use in that case. It's several years away for me but the time goes so fast. I am just curious what you are thinking you will use because I am so thoroughly pleased with all your choices and decisions in the current manual.

I will state for the record that I do pray and hope that the Lord moves you to write the high school years too :D

Paige,

You are very gracious, and it is MUCH appreciated! Here is a link to a previous thread, which gives links and ideas for things we are considering for our own son who will be in high school in 2 years!!!! :D

There is a thread linked within the above link that will not work unless you click the following link. It describes more fully the math, science, history, and literature options we're considering: 8)
