Gentle Reminder to stay on topic!

Ladies,
I just wanted to post a gentle reminder that the purpose of the HOD board is to discuss Heart of Dakota related questions, share your Heart of Dakota experiences, and to uplift and encourage one another as we use HOD in our homes. I feel the need to mention that this is not a general homeschooling board, as there are many boards out there that already serve that purpose. If you take a peek at the current topics that are running on our board right now, you'll most likely notice that we've strayed from our purpose. For new people checking out HOD, this makes it confusing as to what they can expect to see topic-wise on the HOD board. So, here's a reminder of what this board is here to do! Remember, you can always use the private message feature to personally contact members.
Blessings,
Carrie

Heather I just want to encourage you that the women all are very friendly. I have pm'd people and had people pm me that I did not know well but was blessed for the opportunity to get to know them. I think the women here are very open to sharing in our homeschooling experience and will be very happy to chat with ya. Everyone here has been so wonderful to me. I just want to encourage you that we still can have fellowship now and again just by using the pm function. You might end up making great friends that way.

I'm 100% sure Carrie didn't mean anyone in particular; we ALL need that gentle reminder sometimes! we are women, after all, and we get chatty!
This isn't the first time we've strayed from topic.

Oh yes I am also sure he was not singling anyone out. Please don't feel bad. I love chatting with the people here as well. We all get off track. I completely understand why Carrie wants to keep it on topic and it makes sense given how some other boards do nothing but bicker and we have such a wonderful support system at HOD. But I am just as guilty as anyone is of getting off topic.
The people are so great here and sometimes I just forget.
It's good to be reminded but nobody should feel bad. I was just trying to encourage that we still can chat just not in group format. I love that this board has pm.

I used to be part of the Ambleside board, and we got a weekly reminder to stay on topic. I needed it too!
I know Carrie had no particular person, and no particular message in mind when she posted this reminder. As Darci put it so well - we're women... and we like to chat!
It's like when my mom used to reach over and gently squeeze my knee in church when I was off-topic chatting with my dsis - just a kind reminder that we were there to listen to the pastor and talk about the sermon. I needed that reminder too!
After I got it, I made sure my 2 cents fit the purpose of the Lord's day and going to church. So, every now and then it's good to get a gentle "knee squeeze" and focus again on the topic at hand.
In Christ,
Julie
P.S. Heather - I'd LOVE a pm from you anytime hon'!

Oh Heather,
No need to apologize! I agree that it's a fine line as to what is on-topic on any board. We do let quite a bit of off-topic posting go on at HOD in order to encourage everyone to get to know one another. But, every once and awhile the off-topic posts start to "run the board". Then, it's time for a gentle reminder to keep us all on track (me included).
Since my hubby and I moderate the board ourselves, I need to try to keep to its primary purpose which is to discuss and answer questions about HOD and to encourage moms on their HOD journey. There are so many general boards out there that we strive to be something different. Often moms will weave information about their lives within their HOD posts (which I love), so we really do get to know one another that way at HOD too.
Blessings,
Carrie
