Pen pals?

Hi all. Someone mentioned something on another thread about pen pals, and it made me wonder if anyone would like to be pen pals with my kiddos here in England. I don't think postage on regular letters is expensive. It might be fun.

I have a six year old son as well who would love to do this if you're interested! We live in Mexico, so it would be really interesting.

I don't even know how that would work postage-wise??

Oh, that would be so cool! They can always dictate or draw pictures as well. My 6 year old is just learning to read, so his writing is VERY phonetic at this point. My 10 year old is left handed and dyslexic, so while he has quite a bit to say, it's only sort of legible.

We can exchange actual addresses in either PM or email once we figure out postage, yes? This will be fun!

Oh yeah, my 6 year old is still very phonetic as well. He would write some things, but I would likely be doing most of the writing for him as he dictated it to me.

I will research postage and PM you! I just told him (his name is Benjamin) and he is SO excited!!

A thought..you could do
email pen pals. My dd does this with another girl (who is also an HOD user and we found here on the message boards...and we've been very lax about emailing lately..SO SORRY, T & E!) My daughter has enjoyed this, and I plan to get her to do it regularly once we are settled into our new home with email firmly back in place.

It's a great thought.

We actually have a couple of friends in Texas that the kids are email pals with. That is alot of fun--the older two especially like getting email. But there's something about getting mail in the post that is just neat. I would love to do some of the old fashioned pen pal stuff as well. It also factors in that I have to supervise internet time, so that makes email buddies a bit of a challenge at times.

We were part of a yahoo group that did a post card exchange all over the world. The postage for post cards is much more reasonable! You can pick to trade postcards with kids from certain states or countries. Maybe you could consider sending post cards to each other to save on postage...you could even pick cards that gave great info/pics about where you live as an added bonus.

Okay, I checked into the postage and it looks like it will be about 13 pesos which, with the state of the dollar right now, will be about $1, which is great. It's less than mailing something to the U.S which I was suprised about. My e-mail is
hosea214@yahoo.com if you want to exchange addresses!

I think this is a GREAT idea! I would love to have my dd do a pen pal thing and I think she would LOVE it! She is 5yrs old so I don't think her letters would be all that long but she would love to write and draw to send to someone and be tickled pink to receive mail!!!

If someone is interested in this for my dd, send me a PM.

My nine year old son would love to be a pen pal to your kiddos mamas4bugs. He's a bit behind in writing and reading but is doing Bigger without much problems. You can PM me and we can exchange addresses if you like.
Oh I wish we had a dancing smiley!
