Just looking at what I will need for *next* year My dd will be doing Preparing... w/ extensions.

do I order the deluxe pkg AND the extension pkg AND the basic pkg?

What you order would depend on the age and abilities of your daughter. Unless you need to economize I would order the Basic package because those are your story time box (read aloud) books. The Deluxe package is the books that your daughter would read for the independent history study part of Preparing. The Extension package extends the areas of history and science to include more advanced material. The books are at a mid-fifth to upper seventh grade reading level.

So if your daughter is ready for Preparing WITH Extension then yes you would need the Basic package (unless you need to economize and can get the books from the library), Deluxe package, and the Extension package. Hope that helps. I'm sure Carrie and others will chime in too.

thanks, Paige. You would think I could figure it out. She is 11 now.... in 5th grade. I started her in Bigger w/ extensions. She loves it. I wanted her to get American History. I wanted her to get use to the reading..... and so we started w/ Bigger. Next year she will do Preparing w/ extensions. So I was just looking ahead at what I would need.

You'll definitely want the Economy Pacakge with Science (unless you're covering science some other way). Then, you'll most likely want the read-alouds (which come in the Basic Package), unless finanaces do not allow for that. It is harder to find those particular books at the library, since many of them are Christian.

You'll also want to decide whether or not to get the music CD, which is $10. It does help with memorizing the Psalms studied in Preparing.

Next, you can do either the Deluxe Package or the Extension Package for your daughter.

Then, you'll need to cover your language arts and math, with either our choices or your own!
