Reading the Key Idea Is... well... KEY!

Post by my3sons » Thu Oct 09, 2008 9:55 pm

Today we were doing DITHOR. One of the questions was about what actions my ds could take to work on a character trait he'd identified was harder for him, which was "courage". For one of his actions, he said, "I'd go to the Psalms. They really help with emotions, Mom, and they're a great place to seek counsel from the Lord."

For those of you not doing Preparing... yet, that is the Key Idea on Day 2 of each week's Bible Study box. We're in Week 5, and that is already solidified in his mind! I couldn't believe it! He had no idea he was repeating it either - he just felt that was a great action to take. I read the key idea out loud after we've completed each box - I highly recommend doing that. I've been doing it since the beginning, and it's a simple little short tiny step that really seems to solidify the main idea!

I had to smile as I read this! It's so interesting that the things we repeatedly say to our kiddos really stick! I always read the key idea at the end of each part of the lesson too, just to make sure they "heard" the point. :D

It's great when you hear it coming back to you during your day! 8)

Blessings,
Carrie

I always read the key idea aloud too at the end. It helps me to feel I'm bringing everything together...summing it up, which I guess is the "idea". :? It's an awesome way to bring it back to what God tells us in His Word.
