Really quick I have to share how awesome this is!!! While I was setting stuff out for school this morning, I had the RME book open to today's lesson. It was introducing words with a short "i" sound, which we have not yet covered at all. I mean she does know all her letter sounds, just not in conjunction to the words (does that make sense???). Well, there where 12 new words printed on the page, and they were not all in a particular word family, but all of a sudden she started reading them just by sounding them out!!!! I am SOOOOOO excited! It's moments like this that make me LOVE homeschooling. I mean if she was learning this in school, I would completely have missed out on this moment. This is not the first time that this has happened to us either! God is so good to allow me to share in this with her! :D

I am so happy for you! I missed many of my children's "firsts" and that is something that I truly regret. Your children are so lucky to have you for a mom. Your homeschool looks like so much fun on your blog, can we come? My boys don't have much contact with little girls :D

Amen and amen!! I love those days--you know, the ones where they have a light bulb moment, and I get all teary and have to whisper a "thank you" up toward heaven that I got to be there for it. :)

I even love the times where they make me insane, and I want to duct tape all four of them to the wall. :D

I have had those teary moments this week too, as the kiddos have grown-up so much since last year! Most of the time I am thanking the Lord that I get to be present for their ups and downs!

Listening to the kiddos become real readers is a great moment! I'm celebrating with you today, as I have one coming on as a reader this year too! :D
Blessings,
Carrie

What a blessing to be there to see that moment. My dd is in 1st grade and her reading skills have just taken off in the last few weeks. I am so thankful that God allowed me to be the one to teach her to read.

Thanks for sharing! :D :D

P.S. I love your blog!!
