Reading suggestion for 12 yr old boy...

Post by hsingmy3 » Thu Aug 28, 2008 11:09 am

Hi,
This is our first week with DITHOR and I'm really loving using real books again.
My youngest daughter (gr4) is reading "Baby Island" and my son ( almost 12, gr 7) is reading "The Door Within"
for our Adventure unit. Does anyone have any suggestions for humor and folk tales for my son?
I have "Books Children Love" and other book lists but these genres seem to stump me for his age group.
Thanks so much!
Cheryl from MA
PS My daughter is enjoying "Preparing". I will have to post later on that!

Cheryl,

I'm so glad your kiddos are enjoying DITHR. It sounds like they're reading some great books. :D

My oldest son is a 7th grader. For the humor genre, he enjoyed "By the Great Horn Spoon" and "Henry Reed,Inc.".

For Folk Tale, at his age, he's enjoyed "The Great and Terrible Quest", or "Tall Tales" by Stoutenberg, or "King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table" by Howard Pyle.

Blessings,
Carrie
