Drool....Preparing is here....Drooling even more!!!

Post by lovetobehome » Wed Aug 27, 2008 1:34 pm

So I was going from ballet class to our little playgroup I just started, but I had to make a little sidetrip past our home.....because I had a sneaking suspicion that there just MIGHT be a package waiting on my porch, and it was too much to bear waiting 3 more hours until the end of playgroup to find out. I pulled up, and there it was!!! MY NEW PREPARING MANUAL!!!!!!!!!!!! I leapt out of the car, snatched it, and got back in the car, frantically using my car key to undo the tape. It was almost as if light was emanating from the box (ok, so I am exaggerating just a bit to keep you all reading!). My son was so excited, we read the table of contents aloud as we drove to the church. I don't make it my practice to read while driving, but here I was doing that! OOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......
...............wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DROOL, DROOL!!!!

I mean seriously, this is just too good to be true. I AM IN LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carrie, what a tremendous gift you have given us by writing this curriculum.
The only question is, can we bear to wait a year to begin it????? I don't want to miss Bigger.....hmmm, can I do both at the same time, LOL?????????????????
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh how fun! We just started LHFHG (okay, we're on unit 13 but you get the picture) and I'm just dying to order Beyond... but I'm making myself wait until at least January or I'll be wanting to jump the gun and start Beyond...

I'll bet Preparing... is fabulous though. I can't wait until I get to see it, but that will be a while since C is not quite 5 yet. :D
Momma to my 4 sweeties:

DS 11 and DD 9 - Preparing(completed 2 rounds of LHTH, LHFHG, Beyond, and Bigger)
DD 6 - LHFHG

Yes, I finally got everyone to bed so I can look through it some more.....but I had to get on the computer first! Off I go to play! Hopefully I will be able to put it down and get some sleep! Incidentally, I was reading some homeschool awards for curriculum, and I could NOT understand why HOD was not listed....because the top 3 choices were curricula I had used and ditched once I found HOD. I think in a couple years, when there is more momentum and more people know about HOD, they will steal the show! On that list was a curriculum that I started using 4 years ago and it was pretty new then....no one had heard of it then, and it took a few years for it to gain momentum. I have since switched to HOD and I am just betting soon it will take the cake....it sure has for me! Ok, off I go to cuddle up with Preparing.... LOL!!!

Oh, and Ashley, I too had decided to hold off buying Preparing so I wouldn't be tempted. But then I came across a copy someone had ordered and then was unable to use this year, and I caved and bought it from her. I had good intentions to put off buying it!!!

You crack me up!

So glad you are having fun but perhaps you ought to put on a bib or at least get a plastic cover for the manual in case of excessive drool damage. I bet homeowner's doesn't cover that kind of loss. 8)

You're too funny! Yes, I had to put BIGGER in plastic page protectors!!! I may have to do the same for Preparing. WOW. I just can't imagine a curriculum any more perfect than this. And believe me, I have LOOKED and bought sooo many! Somewhere in my old posts I described and compared HOD to some others I had used. It's like, each year in HOD looks more fabulous than I could have imagined. I am mightily impressed. Last night looking through it, I kept saying "WOW" and my hubby thinks I am nuts. He said "You really like it, huh?" I love the weekly art/history projects.....they tie in to the topics studied, and you work on them bit by bit so it isnt like you have to spend 3 hours one day doing something. SHE HAS THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am soooo glad to have HOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Oh Meg! Thanks for your enthusiasm and excitement! I can feel it radiating out from my screen!!

I seriously needed it today, as we are not starting school yet and I am still in the trenches with planning the new ancients guide. We've been working very hard on screening books for the read-alouds for the ancients (which will not correlate with the history, but will have a boy set and a girl set of books representing one read-aloud from each genre) and also with planning for new DITHR reading packs for Level 4/5 (there will be a boy pack for 4/5 and a girl pack for 4/5). There really are not nearly as many good books out there as one would think! We have discarded so many that seemed excellent and living but were not overall.

We are also rooted within the book choices for the Extension Pack and finding that slow going as well! So, I have been reading until my head aches!

But, we are VERY excited with the book choices we have made so far, and thrilled to be able to recommend the quality literature that is making the list. 8)

I very much NEEDED a dose of your enthusiasm today! Bless you!

Oh, GOOD, Carrie! I am glad that in some small way I can encourage you, after all I feel your curriculum is doing for us!
I know what you mean about there not being as many good books as one might think. This is one of the reasons I greatly appreciate your work. Your choices reflect your discernment, your careful attention to providing suggestions that are wholesome and enjoyable. SO MANY other curricula offer books I would just not choose for my children to read. It means so much to me that I can TRUST your choices instead of stumbling onto the problems midway through the books.
Also, I don't believe I ever thanked you for your personal response to my question about future guides and our faith. I kept waiting for the right time to write out how greatly appreciative I was, but I still have it in my inbox! So, let me take thisopportunity to extend my sincere gratitide!
As you can tell, I am ecstatic about HOD! THANK YOU! Now, I have 1 hour to pack up myself and 3 children for a weekend, and still need to clean etc. But we DID do school, the best part of the day! I better run before I am in trouble!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Carrie we appreciate you! I can't wait to see what you find and how you put it all together. I know it is going to be awesome! :D I am so excited for that program and can't wait to see it and use it! And I am so excited to hear that the DITHR packs are going higher level. That is so great!

Meg I am so excited for you, coveting, jealous but also excited.hahaha! Isn't it great when it is just perfect! :D
