Enjoying R&S English
I just wanted to say how much I am loving R&S this year. This is only our 3rd day using it, but I'm so happy with the format and with how thorough it seems to be. It is simply review for my son (level 3) right now, so he's doing a couple lessons a day. We'll be into R&S 4 at some point this year. For my dd, level 2 is a perfect fit. She hasn't had any grammar, except for what was in Beyond, so I think she'll be able to retain this easily. And, I like that they can read the lesson themselves (I do go over it with them first) and follow the directions. I wasn't happy with the grammar my son used last year...I felt it was all over the place...so I'm glad to have something I can see us using for the long haul! Thanks again Carrie, for all the effort you've put into your manuals and choosing the best resources. We're loving it!

Re: Enjoying R&S English
I so agree!
We used Christian Light Education for LA this past year which is R&S in workbook form with a twist of CLE's Mennonite beliefs woven in. I I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with it and was super excited to see that it was an included option in HOD. We will be using level 3 this year. My son (8 1/2) has retained most everything he learned in Level 2. It is an amazing program. I was planning to continue using them for LA even before I learned that HOD included them. The fact that they are scheduled in HOD is God's goodness to me.

Re: Enjoying R&S English
Good to read this! I always hear how dry R&S stuff is, but the kids seem to enjoy it. I am starting BLHFHG in the fall so I won't be there till next year. My son will just almost be 7 so I was hoping it would not be too difficult at that time, but I guess I can slow it down as need be.

Re: Enjoying R&S English
I agree that we were SO relieved with the thorough systematic presentation in Rod and Staff. It truly was a breath of fresh air from our previous English experiences (and I DID NOT want to use something as formal as Rod and Staff, but I am so glad we have)!
Blessings,
Carrie
