We are currently working on grouping into tens then adding and subtracting.
I have a concern that on the scope and sequence of Singapore this doesn't look like it comes around again for practice.
Is that it? Because this is a pretty big concept. It looks like there's not enough practice in some concepts throughout Singpore and I do have have the scope and sequence for the entire levels from their site. This worries me. Do they just not mark it on the scope and sequence. For those of you who used 1B and up, does it use this concept over and over?

reading that is what helped me take the plunge and just order 1a/1b as I was just going to print corresponding pages from a different math curricula ... so maybe it's a concept that if shown properly the first time a child gets it and doesn't have to be repeatedly practiced ... or something like that.

Hi--my twins used 1B two years ago, and if I remember correctly, the kids learn it, practice it, and then keep using it in subsequent adding and subracting exercises. The concept is repeated in the review exercises in the workbook and textbook as you go along. Once my kids got the concept, they didn't need to keep practicing it with tons of repetition--they just naturally began adding and subtracting that way (mentally, by tens) in all of the following lessons that required adding and subtracting. We're on 3B and they still do it, so it must have stuck. Hope that helps!
