We are using Geometry: A Guided Inquiry this year. I am having trouble figuring out how to maneuver through it. We are downloading and printing all the material each chapter (since there's no book) from the flash drive. We are watching the Intro video to each chapter, working through the text and central questions, then going on to the review and project sections. We are really struggling with the Geogebra program. We are having trouble figuring out how to really use it, and we can't seem to find good instructions for it. Also, at times it seems we are missing out on much teaching. In Foerster's Algebra, there were teaching videos with each lesson, and with this, there is an intro video, but all the "teaching" or "instructions" are mixed right in with the problems and there isn't much information at times it seems. I sort of feel like we are missing something, or maybe it just takes a while to get in a groove and figure out how it works??? Anyone who has used this program, please help! I am frustrated and my son is as well. Thank you!

Re: Help with Geometry please
Meredith,
In the World History Guide Introduction, if you scroll toward the end you will find a numbered sequence for doing Geometry: A Guided Inquiry. This will be of help to you as you plan how to go through the program: https://www.heartofdakota.com/pdf/World ... uction.pdf
This thread may be of help too: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16753&p=117555

Re: Help with Geometry please
Thank you Carrie! I had read through all of that in the HOD WH guide, and we are doing things as stated. I think many of my questions and confusion are similar to the lady's concerns in the other thread you posted a link to. I am hoping that as we move forward, all the little bumps in the road will begin to smooth out and it won't seem so confusing! I appreciate your help!

Re: Help with Geometry please
We followed these guidelines years' back with my oldest son, Wyatt, who is now in his second year of college...
GEOMETRY PLANS
1. Watch the chapter introduction on the computer on your own.
2. Work the Central Problem section with the teacher. This will take multiple days. The answers are printed in the binder.
3. Do all of the Central Self Quiz on your own. Check answers in the geometry textbook. This will be graded.
4. Do the Review on your own. Watch the video solution guide on the computer for any areas of difficulty. Check with the answers in the
geometry textbook. This will be graded.
5. The Review Self Test is optional. The answers are in the geometry textbook.
6. Do at least half of the Algebra Review. Check the answers in the geometry textbook. This will be graded.
7. Choose several Projects to work. Check with the the answers in the binder. The Geogebra demos on the computer can be watched as needed.
As the year progressed, my ds became more independent and did very well with that. He is good at math though, so I think it depends somewhat on the student's math abilities, as well as the student's ability to work well independently. Likewise, it depends on the future - what is the goal for the student? Is a career in math/science in the future? I foresee my ds pursuing something possibly math-related (i.e. a business degree), so I was more involved at first to be sure he started off on the right foot. Carrie and I both enjoyed Geometry this year, as did our sons. There are other choices HOD recommends, however, should one of the other options appeal to you more. Here is a link to Carrie's explanation of each of them in her sneak peek about Geometry...
