Where would you place a student that has done spelling using spell to write and read up to 5th grade? Would you start with the 6th dictation? That’s what I was planning bc she is using Res to Ref this fall and technically 6th grade. I got so tired of SWR. It wasn’t working for my 2nd child. But my younger two kiddos r going into 1st & 3rd so easy to begin them on the spelling lists. But since my 6th grader didn’t do spelling dictation style was trying to decide where to place her. Thanks!

After looking through the guides (I have done up to CTC with my oldest). I have never used the language arts part before. (We used spell to write and read but it doesn’t work well with my 9 yr old) It appears using the language arts from the guide they do not learn the spelling rules. Do you add them in as you see words that it helps to spell with a rule? Or do you not worry about knowing the rules? Or am I missing it and somewhere they learn the spelling rules?
