Confession...Preparing

So, I have to admit, that when I first read that the students were supposed to make hand motions to go with their verses in Preparing, I thought it was kinda lame. I just imagined my big 10yo balking and saying it was so "babyish".

I was WRONG!

He put his hand motions for Psalm 1:1-2 together today. He laughed the whole time and even got his 4yo brother to do them. He especially likes using his fingers to make devil horns on his head to stand for "counsel of the wicked".

Thanks Carrie. :) He can almost say the whole verse.

Sometimes I think my bigger boys like to help do school with their younger brothers because they can do the actions without looking "lame"

isn't it fun how much they learn through the doing along with the saying? I was surprised-I always kinda thought, "nah-that's just somebody's harebrained theory" then we actually DID it-and WOW!! a big difference!!

MJ,

I have had the same experience you've had! Those types of things always seemed like extra and not really necessary to me too! But they make a HUGE difference in helping kiddos (and even parents) recite and commit those verses to memory. Getting as many learning styles involved as often as we can helps tap into better retention and learning! And it doesn't even take all that long to do! :D

Thanks for sharing,
Carrie

My dd is 10 and she loves to do hand motions. She came home from VBS last week showing me all the hand motions that went with the songs and loving every minute of it.
