Writing question

Hi ladies.

I have a question regarding Essentials in Writing. I may have dropped the ball a bit here..........mainly because I didn't want my daughter to get discouraged, but we are on section 3 lesson 7a for persuasive essay. I am assuming they are suppose to go over the checklist and the scoring chart before they turn their essay in. I give her feed back as she is going but haven't used these charts as much  So as we are moving forward I am trying to push her a bit more. She doesn't like this and just wanted a grade and to move on. Am I doing this "check list" "scoring chart " the right way? She doesn't like writing because it takes so much energy for her to do it.

Thanks for the any feed back.

I think as long as they are doing the work and see where they could improve . . . then you can do it however you want! For example, I've never given my DD a "grade". We just go over the checklist together. So there are probably a lot of right ways to get them the knowledge!! Just my 2 cents!

Stacey,

It is a fine balance in working toward improvement in writing without stressing the child out too much. :D I do have my boys go over their checklist to be sure they have done what is on the list prior to handing in their assignment. However, I do not have them look over the grading chart. I just circle where they fall on the chart after they hand their assignment in to me. Then, I give them time to look over and read the areas I circled on the chart the next day.

Blessings,
Carrie
