Hi. I am looking for a supply list for LHFHG and BHFHG. I did a search on this board and find another post with this question. The link that was given is no longer working. It goes to a blank web page. :?:

Thanks for your help!

for the most part you just need basic art supplies that most people have on hand. Scissors, contruction paper, crayons, paints, markers, cotton balls, etc... I try to look ahead a week to see if there is anything I don't have, but that's the exception rather than the rule.
:D

We just use it open and go. It has worked well for us. I think I substituted brown sugar for corn meal once to make pretend sand. It's very user friendly. :D

Summer,

Our guides are written to be open and go, so no supply list is needed! We don't plan ahead at our house either.

I know some moms glance at the guide the evening before or day of, other moms are more comfortable perusing the plans over the weekend. Some list-makers do make their own supply lists.

But, all in all these are all optional. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Hi Carrie.

I do appreciate that the lesson plans are open and go! Greatly do I appreciate that aspect!!! With my personality though, I need to have a list of supplies ahead of time so that I'm not "caught off guard" so to speak. If I don't have them handy, I probably won't follow through with the plans and the boys will miss out and I'm trying to avoid that. The curriculum I started with last Fall was all laid out for me too, but it included a supply list. But it was DIFFICULT to implement. HOD is so EASY to implement, guess I am just looking for the best of both worlds. LOL!

I will just look ahead and gather what I can of the supplies ahead of time. :)

At least in recent memory (which is all I have anymore ) I haven't had to skip or delay anything.

I just came on to check into supply lists and found this thread. There may be others out there but being just 5 weeks from my due date, I'm a bit scatter-brained!

We are SOOOO excited to begin HOD in July. We're just about to wrap up our 1st semester (not HOD at the moment) and I am just SO looking forward to using something in which things are tied together. At the moment, school just feels so "chore" like.

Anyway...I saw this thread and wondering if any of you "list makers" have posted something or if you have a list of needed supplies? I'm a total list maker/organizer (I also have OCD--real, actual OCD) and need structure. :)

Now I have a background in teaching and used a more traditional school-type curriculum for my dd's K year, so I have a TON of supplies. So, for me, it's fairly obvious that I need to make sure my paints and glue sticks are all up to par. I also have pipe cleaners and a few other items. But there could be someone else who really has no idea what's meant by "basic art supplies." Even though I have a background in education and taught preschool for 5 years, I still need to have a structured curriculum--it doesn't occur to me to go to the library and find a book on Thanksgiving, unless someone suggests it or tells me to. So I can empathize with the original poster.

So, if you're a list maker and happen to have a list of supplies needed for the different levels, would you mind PMing me? Or, being a list maker myself, I'd be totally happy (seriously, OCDers get extremely excited about the idea of making lists and such) to create a supply list for future use.

I'll be using Little and Bigger Hearts next fall after completing LHTH and Beyond this year. I would SO love to have a list. I'm a list maker as well...or maybe I just get excited over getting to go get all the things I don't already have. I know what the pp meant about skipping activities if I don't have what I need right then. HOD really is open and go but I actually enjoy lists and listmaking :)

I would say masking or duct tape, plenty of poster paper or drawing paper, a map or globe, paints, markers, balloons, notecards (you could even use scrap pieces of paper), those are the first few things I can think of.

Ah....a map or globe....we do have one of those because it happened to be a free gift from National Geographic Kids. LOL but that would def. be something that I would struggle with if I didn't already have it. I also have one of those personalities in that if it isn't done correctly or by the book then I end up skipping it.

Thanks for the list so far :) I can't wait to get our manuals (I order in the spring) so I can get into all the "real' organization. :)

I am making a supply list by week of Bigger Hearts as we go along. I am doing it in an Open Office document which is a free download that will also open Microsoft documents like Word, Excel, etc. I am only on week 2 though so I have a ways to go AND I don't know how I would get it to everyone that wants it. I would like to have at least a few weeks done in advance too but I have yet to get it done more than one week at a time. I will really try to get ahead on that.

I am happy to share what I do if we can figure out a way for everyone to get it.

SouthernMrs e-mailed me her materials list back in September for both programs, but I can only find the BHFHG one. If you will PM me your e-mail address I will send it to you. I'm sure SouthernMrs would send you both if you PM'd her. I wanted to have a list handy as well, but I actually haven't referenced it in a while- I have had everything (or a workable substitute) on hand. I think Carrie has said that she didn't include a supplies list in the manuals due to the open-and-go format and not wanting to increase the size of the manuals, but it would be great if it were downloadable on the website to be available for us listmakers! Also, I would love a list of books needed in each unit - I buy/borrow as I go, and sometimes one sneaks up on me!

If you found a link to an old thread, you may have to add a "3" after "board" in the address to make it work. Any old thread prior to our board update will need a "3" added after "board" to open. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

HI Ladies,
I have made up my own "supply list" for both Bigger and Little Hearts (last year). I have shared them both with several on here already, and I'm more than happy share with others.
As Carrie mentions the guides are very open and go, but my husband travels frequently and we like to tag along when we can, so I needed something to make my packing quick and easy and also to make sure I had the normal household items needed for a stay in a hotel room.

I wish there was a way to post it into a file here on the board, but I wouldn't know how to do that unless someone could help me. :)

Anyway, if you are interested in my version (it is in Word 2007), send me a PM with your email address and I can send as an attachment.
Take care,

Seriously, I too, have been accused more than once of being an obsessive list maker. BUT I really have not had to do much list making on the art and craft activity boxes for LHFHG. It really is open-and-go. And if I did not have something, I was able to substitute.

I just thought I should share that.
