US1 confusion on narrations

I am looking over US1's Intro for history narrations and I'm thoroughly confused.

Under Written Narrations, it shows Highlighted, Key Word, Summary, Topic, Detailed, Opinion, and Typed. But the plans within the guide show them to be oral and the "Typed" is called "Recorded". I'm not quite sure how to have a specified numbered paragraphs narration typed if it was supposed to be typed from a recording, which is what I gather.

The Opinion narration requires 4-5 paragraphs in the Intro, yet it's an oral narration in full within the plans, so I'm not understanding what is to be done here.

I'm gathering that the specific narrations under "written" are simply the notes they create for the oral, but then are there truly no written narrations then in US1, other than these notes?

I'm so confused.

There are written narrations every week on day 4 in the history box. Those are highlighted, key word, summary, topic, detailed, opinion and typed. These vary in length depending on what type of narration they are. For example the summary narration is only 3 paragraphs whereas the detailed and opinion are 4-5 paragraphs.

The oral narrations are on day 1 in the history box. Many of those are the same type as the written, however they are oral only. Those are highlighted, key word, summary, topic, detailed, opinion and a recorded narration. The recorded narration is not typed. It is just recorded and then played for the parent. The week an oral highlighted narration is scheduled on day 1 then a written highlighted narration is scheduled on day 4. It is has been very interesting to see the difference in how he does an oral narration vs a written of the same type. He does much better with the written.

Hope that helps. As a funny note my son loves the typed narration day for the written narration because of his dysgraphia he has had to always type so he feels like for once he has an advantage.

Really?
My Introduction has all the types of Written narrations shown and stated on Day 1, so perhaps "Day 1" is a typo and it should say Day 4?" I'll bet that's it!!! And that would be brain clearing! Okay, that would make sense. Good to know I still have some brain cells working. I thought I'd lost it.

If that's the case, Carrie needs to know that that Intro section for those should be corrected to "Day 4".

I use the Introduction grading section for planning and scheduling, also an index of sorts, so it's why I was so confused.

Thanks, Lynn!
