My dd just turned 12 and is in 7th grade doing Missions to Modern Marvels. I am wondering if I should have her do all of English 6 like the manual suggests or just half of English 6 since she is just in 7th grade....not sure what to do. Thanks for any help.

So do you plan on having her doing the high school WG guide in 8th grade? If so then yes I would do all of the 6th grade book.

Lynn,
I totally haven't decided but when I talked to Julie and Mike, they both were saying that it is nice to be able to do the 4 yrs of high school over 5 years. Right now dd will graduate at 17 (she doesn't have a b-day til July) and if we didn't do it over 5 years she would be 16 and I definitely don't want that. I know you are in Ohio as well, I just don't know how you would do the 4 yrs of work over 5 yrs when it comes to filing info etc. in Ohio. To answer your question the best I possibly could, is yes, I think I will just have her move to the high school guide next year. I honestly don't know what else I would do and I don't want to do another curriculum for a year as I wouldn't want her to lose any skills she has learned in HOD. KWIM?

We added a year of school to my son, but I did it before high school so he just has the 4 years of high school. As far as filing to get the exemption to homeschool I use the HSLDA forms and you don't have to give a grade level so I never have. For the transcript you can do one that doesn't list courses by grade, it just list courses taken. The only problem would be if a college wanted it in a grade by grade format(ie 9th grade courses, 10th grade courses etc). I think you will probably end up slowing down WG, that guide is a huge jump from MTMM and I think an 8th grader will need it slowed down to be successful. As far as your original question since you are planning to do the guides as written, just maybe slow them down I would still finish the 6th grade grammar book this year.
