Question About HOD Highschool Courses & CLEP Compatibility

Post by Lynn3ggb » Fri Jul 08, 2016 3:01 pm

My oldest dd graduated last year and has been taking Psychology 101, English 101 and College Algebra at the local community college. She said she wishes she had just taken the CLEP tests since she is just repeating what she already knows. I want to spare my other two children the same issue as they move forward.

As I am laying out the upcoming year for my remaining two highschool students, I am wondering if any of the HOD highschool courses are especially good at preparing students for any of the available CLEP exams.

Also, if any of you have blazed this trail already, are there any prep resources that are easily added to the courses to help students be ready to take the test as they are finishing the highschool course?

Hope this makes sense. :)

There are CLEP review books that you purchase separately for approximately $30-$40. I have taught several high school sciences courses at my co-op and if my students want to take the CLEP test, I recommend those study guides. They just highlight the main areas on the test. You still need to complete the course separately because it really helps to drive in the information and makes studying for the test easier. But those are some really great resources for each subject that you want to test on. I think they would easily be compatible for all of the courses HOD teaches. With science, there are some minor differences in those CLEP test books since the tests are secular. And there may be a few differences in other courses as well. But in general, I think those study guides would be more than sufficient to prepare your kids for the tests.

Thank you, Nealewill, I really appreciate the information and advice. I will do some research to see if I can find the guides you are referring to. Blessings!
