Hi Everyone!

I am looking at the Bible study in World Geography. I've read some reviews on various sites, and many people recommend it for upper high school (11th-12th). Has anyone found it to be too challenging for a 9th grader? My 9th grader is not especially fond of reading. ;-)

It is a challenging study, but I think it is appropriate for 9th grade. The challenge isn't in the amount of reading, but in the deep thought the questions require. Carrie breaks it up into very manageable pieces. In my opinion the key to this study is to not expect your student to answer exactly like the answer key. The answer key is very complete and I don't think most high schoolers, or actually many adults would come up with everything they list. What I did was if he had part of the answer or even if his answer made sense then we moved on. I would often let him read what the answer key said, just as a learning experience, but I was careful to not let him think he was not doing well in bible. I didn't really grade it hard at all. If he was way off base we would talk about it, but again I didn't want him to think he was getting a bad grade in bible. I think he did learn a lot that year and he learned that studying the bible does require deep thought.

We didn't have problems with it at all. Yes, it requires thinking. I think the biggest thing was applying the questions to themselves and not parroting back what they think or know the answers to be. Deeper thought. My dd really enjoyed this study.

Ditto to LynnH and annazs' thoughts! Our son didn't find it too challenging, but that was probably due in part to the way Carrie planned it so nicely in manageable segments. We really enjoyed the connections to World Geography. It just made total sense to read about and pray for people groups around the world as we were making our way around the world in World Geography! I think you'll enjoy it too. :D

In Christ,
