High School World Geog Sci Question?

Hi everyone,

We just started the IPC Science and are in Unit 4 of the HOD guidebook. Is the student supposed to take the tests at all? If not, how do I determine his understanding and if he is learning...from how he does in the activity book after the reading? I didn't see any instructions in the guide yet to do any of the tests, so wanted to double check. If he is not supposed to take the tests, why is that? Is he supposed to do the activity books exercises open book or not? Just want to make sure I am covering and grading all of it how I should be! Thanks ahead of time for any help!

The tests are not scheduled. I am not sure Carrie's reasoning on that other than it is a very full schedule since she is fitting the entire course into a year as well as all the labs. They do the workbook pages open book. My husband did the labs with him and he could see some of the understanding coming through there in how he did them. The grade was based on the scores on the labs and the daily work.

Jessica,

Lynn did a great job of answering your questions! :D I agree that the IPC schedule is VERY FULL, including all of the scheduled labs, meaning that there is not the time (nor the need grading-wise or credit-wise) for the tests. :D If we had included the tests, the schedule would be overly full and real learning would then be sacrificed as kiddos rushed through too much to complete each day.

As a help, if you turn to the front of your World Geography Guide, you will see a checkoff for grading every subject within your World Geography Guide. Once you locate the grading sheets for IPC, you will know better what you need to do for the year grading-wise for IPC. I will link the overviews and grading here that are also in the front of your guide. You can scroll through to find IPC. Link: http://www.heartofdakota.com/pdf/wg-overview.pdf

Hopefully, this will take much of the guesswork out of your grading. :D We pray you will enjoy World Geography as much as we have with our son. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
