coming back to HOD, and special needs

Post by blessedmomof3girls » Tue Mar 15, 2016 10:10 pm

Hello,
I did one year of Heart of Dakota in 2012-2013 with my oldest daughter. She completed Bigger Hearts for His Glory. I also did part of Little Hands to Heaven with my second daughter. I really liked both programs. We stopped using HOD after that one year because we were not in a position where we could do all the work required. But here we are in a better place, and next fall I would like to go back to HOD with my girls.

I will do Little Hands to Heaven with my 6 and almost 4 year old daughters. I will do Bigger Hearts for His Glory with my 9 year old. Where do I put my 12 year old? She will be in 7th grade. She will be 13 in October. Is it okay to skip up to Revival to Revolution? Or should I take her through the other programs first, but keeping her math and language arts at 7th grade?

My 6 year old has special needs. As of right now, she doesn't read or write. She is still inconsistent with recognizing letters and sounds. I am wondering how the higher grades will be for her.If Heart of Dakota is something that she will be able to keep up with as she gets older. She is autistic, and probably has other learning disabilities. She is high functioning, and verbal.

Hi Rebecca - I would check the placement chart for both the 9 year old and the 12 year old and put them in the ones that they fit in. If the 12 year old fits in Rev to Rev go ahead and put her there, but if she places in a lower guide put her in that one. I am currently using Res to Ref for my 14 year old as last fall that is where she placed (except for math as she is doing algebra)....she has learning disabilities in language so we move slowly.
