A great schoolday moment - (copied Julie)

So last night I got home after 7pm and by the time I was getting schoolwork ready and looking through the book I saw the goldmining history activity was on for my younger son today. I groaned because I had no energy left to get stuff ready for it (not that it is that hard), or at that point in time, even to do the activity. Then I remembered Julie writing about how she had Riley do an involved science experiment with Emmett once when she was short on time and Wyatt also works with the boys from time to time. So today during math (our first subject), I had my older ds (almost 11) set up the history activity. I decided to just let him do the activity with my younger and I would take short breather, which is what I am doing now. My older beamed when I gave him the task and it is going really well. This has been good for him because he sometimes avoids independence, but he is doing a great job. Thanks HOD for being a curriculum tired mamas can use and giving us this board to share ideas!

Yay! Sounds like it went well! I'm glad you shared this idea, because I had missed the post where Julie had done this. Thanks!!

Brilliant! I'm so glad that worked out well with your boys. My girls would enjoy that too.

That's great! I'm so glad your ds rose to the occasion, and I bet they had a wonderful time together! We mamas do need a break sometimes, and our best helpers are those we help every day. They long to be an integral, needed part of the family. It sounds like your 11 yo ds did a super job of helping out - way to go! :D :D :D

In Christ,
Julie
