Hello! Since our family will be moving soon to a remote area of Papua New Guinea, what would be the basics I would need to make sure we have on hand? I won't be able to run to the store for paint, paper, etc...so I need to think ahead and bring it with me. So I'm thinking for like, projects, etc...anything "extra"--any recommendations? Or maybe there is a list at the beginning of each guide? Thank you!

Being overseas might make it a bit more complicated. What levels/guides will you be teaching?

There are a lot of activities that call for things like aluminum foil, wax paper, food coloring etc. I assume you can get things like flour, salt, though maybe not peanut butter. There are a lot of common household items used that would be easy to come by in an American home but may not be common there. You may need to become a master of substitution because do you really want to pack a bunch of cotton balls and food coloring just for the random activity? I end up substituting a lot and it works out just fine.

Things you definitely want to have: paints, construction paper, plain white paper, notebook paper, pencils (a good pencil sharpener), colored pencils, index cards, maybe sheet protectors if you want to keep their stuff in a notebook, (notebook), handwriting paper for youngers, white glue, glue sticks, scissors, tape. Depending on which guides, if there is anything specific in the guide, like the watercolors in CTC, that is listed in the introduction pages. Otherwise I think they assume that you have basic school supplies, and again for the activities that require certain things, I often end up substituting.

I hope this helps. Comprehensive supplies lists don't really exist. You would need to go through the guide and make a list. There's a good post on here about why they don't make a supply list for you.

Would you have time to go through the guide, look through all the rotating box and science activities and see if there's something critical that you just absolutely can't get? Most things should be pretty simple to come by honestly, but again the exhaustive list doesn't exist except where people have made their own.

I'd get the guide and compare it to what you think will be available where you will be living, as this can vary internationally greatly. However, here are a few threads to get you started...
