Special needs placement question.

I see I have posted a long time ago now...2010. I have been all over the place with curriculum and never settled down with anything. I have 3 children at home for schooling. My daughter Veronica has down syndrome she is 12 1/2 year old. We have been very relaxed and she is very delayed due to my not pushing her enough.

I was considering starting her with LHTH and having her work with her little sister(4 1/2yo). But I wonder if it would be better for me to do something a bit more challenging for her and give her something of her own. She knows all her letters and most of the sounds. Her expressive language is very delayed. She engages well and likes doing projects and listening to books. Her favorite activity is watching TV. Something we need to wean off. I think we will be using RightStart math with her and putting together our own sight word reading program. She also does Gemiini online for Speech Therapy, it has been a huge help.

If anyone has any suggestions for me I would love to hear.

Thanks and God Bless

I was just looking over Beyond LH and that looks like something she would be able to do. Hmmmm.

Hey Christi :D Funny, as I read this, I thought of Beyond for her, but going at her speed. You could even do it a couple years in a row, switching reading packages as you go along. This would maybe create a sense of familiarity for her as she works on new skills at her pace. I would be tempted to do the same with Bigger and then Preparing, using new readers or the extension packages as she grows. My experience has been that repeating curricula is not a disappointment in some circumstances, but rather more like an old friend to grow with :D Prayers for guidance and joy, Jenny
