Art short answer questions in WH guide

Overall my ds is doing really well with the World History guide and is really liking it. One area he is struggling in however is answering the short answer questions in the Art History portion. If it is an obvious answer he is fine, but on ones where it isn't as obvious his answers are not what are in the answer guide. I usually can look through the reading and see where he got his answer, but it still isn't what the TM is looking for. I was just wondering if other dc who are doing this guide struggle at all with this or if it is due to some of his learning challenges. I am not trying to compare him to other dc, but it helps me to know if this is something other students find easy so that I can figure out where the glitch is in his processing.

Hi, Lynn! In my opinion, I think it is fine if his answers don't match the ones in the answer guide as long as he has obviously put some thought and effort into his response. My twins are doing about the same. If it's very clear in the text, their answers will match the guide. But oftentimes, their answers don't really line up. So we discuss why they answered that way, and then I will read the answer from the teacher's guide as well and we discuss that. It's a learning experience and that's really what I am wanting out of the art study. They are interacting with the artists and their work and I'm good with that. :D

Thanks Tiffini, that is how I am approaching it also. I am trying to show him where in the text they got their answers hoping that will help also. It helps to know that other dc are having similar challenges with it.
